Writing for the purpose of... Writing...

When i first came out with this Blog - i thought to myself - well, this is interesting,
I'll write things up, people will follow, comment, discuss, dislike, like ,,, and so on...

several months and barely 5 Posts later, i came to the resolution that, hmm - maybe I'm missing something - but no one reads this, and whoever that is following it (imagine that - there are a couple of them :) - thanks!) - most probably expected, let alone deserved better...

does writing for the sake and purpose of self - justifies blogging?,

just like a tree falling over - if no one hears it or better yet sees it fall - does it actually matter to anyone?

does blogging for the sake of blogging is enough to justify mumbling over the net looking for people to read these mumbling...?

is it actually what blogging is all about in the first place? - attention hunters going after their prey... but with no actual teeth to drag them further and further in...

for the first time in this blog... - what do you think? feel free to leave your comments or join the horde for coming blog posts.

and to all a good week.

So do you believe in the written word?

Been thinking lately on where communication and information archiving / resources are heading...

mainly thinking about online information resources as valid or invalid source for knowledge / academic work / accreditation.

Saw a TV Program on a school in Minnesota (US), dealing with education today and their ongoing fight against downloading homework and work essay summaries from the net. as opposed to gathering the information and writing it on your own.

also they find them self with the need to "fight" a growing trend of not only not reading a book entirely and renting (downloading :)) - but actually downloading short summarized tidbits of the actual books they are required to read.

How should educators / accreditations and other personnel in this field should handle the internet? - not even raising the fact that some people draw their entire knowledge from Wikipedia or the likes of it...

is it official enough? is it reliable enough? - is it unbiased enough to become a valid source? ( even with the new implementations they recently got in wikipedia...)

while writing these words - I think more and more on Online identities and their ongoing management... FaceBook / MySpace / Linkedin / Forums / etc. etc. - but that is another matter ( another post maybe? ).

what do you think? - are we heading to knowledge chaos? / are we already there ? / will it ever "get there"?

I tend to ponder on this issue more and more - the more I refer to online resources for almost any aspect of my life - personal and professional wise.

how does one manage the information? - or better yet - handle the Disinformation the World Wide Web introduces to us?...

no idea... really... just thoughts...

Yours

Eyal

Just a technicality?

More than 2 weeks passed since my last post...

Certainly got some reaction to my recent post - at least via linkedin :).

I got to admit that this is far more problematic than i first thought it to be...

you want to write something - actually need to write it - as it is supposed to be some sort of a Blog.

on the other hand - writing just about anything and any time - at least on my front might very well make me look and sound like a complete moron... :) or at least a partial one... (just take a random look at your friends' comments on facebook or myspace as an example... )

Not only that - but due to lack of any publicity what soever - regardless of media type - this is like trying your best to write something presentable enough for other people to read, while at the same time being completely aware that (hardly?) no one will actually read it,
not now, not tomorrow - and to be honest - ever...

so - question remains - should i really do my best to find some interesting stuff to write about and act as if people will actually read it, or perhaps i should continue writing these self aware - pseudo depressing posts... or maybe - just give it up all together...

what do you say people ? - should i keep this up?

should i just consider the fact that no one will ever read this as
- well - just a technicality ?

No gaming for you! - Come back one Year!

It's been a year since I've got this piece of expensive Tech.

a PlayStation 3. - Opened up the box like a little kid in front of my - then - 3 month year old baby, and my annoyed wife :).

saying it cost "only" 4000 NIS did not convince my wife that it is worth it - but i insisted, and hooking it up to my - then - New , No name Full HD TV tried to convince myself as well...

I finally had ( well sort of ) the funds to get it - but no time whatsoever to actually play it :(.

I tried it late at nights - but fell asleep in front of the flickering TV.

I tried it before heading to Work - but found it to be way to short of an experience to have on a daily basis.

I tried it on weekends - but then it meant far less time with my family.

I read game reviews, follow up on multiple sites and even registered to some, following up on E3 and others, i also tried to game - I tried short sessions, long sessions, different games, single player, multi player, with Surround, with Stereo even Mono, with PS1 games or PSN and even brand new games...
with some Camera Games, with Full HD TV and HD Ready TVs... with the lights on and with the lights off... even befriended a great guy from the UK to purchase new/used games from (how do you say in English-UK - Kaa-Chinng!? ).
I tried Blu Rays / MP4 / MP3 / Slide shows with Pictures / Streaming Videos / regular DVDs - with and without up-scaling / connecting to Printer / Connecting to a PC / with LAN or WiFi...
browsing the Net via Mouse / Joystick and even a QWERTY BT Add On that connects to the Joystick / with a BT Headset and with no sound at all / with RCA / Component / HDMI...
even updating the occasional firmware change in hope for wonders and even browsing "PS HOME" for unexplainable reasons...

but the damn thing hardly got turned on since i bought it...

Have i lost it?

Am i too old for Gaming? / for this Console Race? / am i actually to old and oblivious to even give a damn on High Definition 7.1 Surround Sound 3D Gaming when it is finally in my grasp???

there were times i recall i could not even let go of my XBOX and PS2 or the PS1 for that matter...

now I'm participating in Games on Demand via Cable infrastructure Beta... and i don't even bother turning it on every now and then even to have a go...

Have i really lost it?

Maybe it is because I'm into Computer gaming since i was 4-5 Years old with the Atari 2600 and Compatible PC with a Dos 3.x ?

Am i too damn grown up to even start up a game let alone finish it?

Is my brain already fed up with these "gaming nonsense" my surrounding keep talking about?

Just read recently that the average Gamer is a bulky 35 Year old... with a not so healthy lifestyle.

well - i got the not so healthy lifestyle/diet, and I'm definitely bulky, and not even 35 years old yet... does it mean it is over for me?

No gaming for you!
- come back one year!

...

i will.... i will.... this time reinforced with a 2.5 year old little kid who is growing into an ever changing digital age... which wreck havoc to my keyboard, mouse, controller and more...

maybe can help me find my way back again?
